Call NOW, for same day service. Alpine Home Air Products - Ductless mini split s are our specialty! A Split air conditioner is compact and isolated between two localized component sections, so there is very little opportunity for heat and other energy to escape the system. Centralized air conditioning systems waste enormous amounts of energy due to heat exchange in the air conditioner duct system.

One type of air conditioner , the split , works by providing air from a wall mounted cooling unit or vents in the floor (which will be discussed in another post). It is called a split air conditioner because it has an inside and an outside part. Most central heating units are of this type. Ductless mini-split air conditioners work similar to conventional air duct systems, but there are a few main differences.

Before you can understand mini-split systems, it’s important to make sense of how traditional models work.

How Do Split AC Systems Work ? Traditional split systems consist of two main units: an outdoor and indoor unit. The outdoor unit comprises a compressor and a condenser. The indoor unit contains an evaporator, a blower, and a control panel. There are other elements, but we will skip them to make the description as simple as possible.

Leakages are one of the most common split AC problems. The refrigerant ( AC gas , as commonly known) is main contributor to the cooling of the air. If the split AC is not cooling properly, most probably the refrigerant level is low. Common problems with split AC 1. Refrigerant leakage in split AC.

Compressor switching off too frequently. Ice accumulation on cooling coil. Foul smell upon switching on the AC. Indoor unit making too much noise. Swing mechanism not working.

How A Ductless Heat Pump Works. When set to cooling mode, a heat pump works in the same way as an air conditioner. By including a reversing valve in the heat pump, the refrigerant is able to flow in either direction.

This allows for it to provide cooling and heating from a single ductless system.

We will assume that before we begin any of the steps below, we have already checked that the air filter is clean, batteries in the thermostat are good and the settings are correct (cool - auto - or low enough to come on). This video is made by Senville Air Conditioners but most air conditioners. One part contains the compressor and the radiator to cool the compressed air. This part is normally located outside so the noise is not heard.

The second part contains the expansion valve, evaporator and the fan. That part is located inside the cooled area. The split air conditioner works the same as a non split AC works.
