Types of chiller

What are the different types of chillers? Which is better, a DX unit or chiller? How to correctly size a chiller? What type of refrigerant is used in chiller?

The majority of centrifugal chillers are water chillers.

These systems work by using a piston and chamber to compress. Scroll Compressor Chillers. Types Of Chillers Air Chillers. Evaporative Condensed Chillers.

In this video, we’re going to be looking at the most common types of refrigerant compressors used in chillers. We’re going to have a review of the four most common types, that being the centrifugal, the screw , the scroll and the reciprocating. There are four subcategories in each of the above categories for industrial chillers: (1) reciprocating , (2) centrifugal , (3) screw driven (4) and absorption chillers.

In terms of the components they are made up of, the two kinds are very much similar. Both the products have an evaporator , compressor , condenser and an expansion valve. Mechanical Compressor Chillers : Mechanical compression chillers are classified by compressor type: reciprocating , rotary screw , centrifugal and friction less centrifugal.

Reciprocating : Similar to a car engine with multiple pistons, a crankshaft is turned by an electric motor, the pistons compress the gas,. A split system is an outdoor unit containing the condenser and compressor, and an indoor unit containing the evaporator coil and blower. Split-system central air conditioning is most popular type of residential heating and air-conditioning. The three major types of industrial chillers in use today are air-cooled chillers, water-cooled chillers, and evaporative condensed chillers. Let’s take a closer look at all three: Water-Cooled Chillers.

The most common types of water chillers use water from an external tower to cool the gaseous refrigerant in the condenser. Direct-Fired Chiller : combustion of a fossil fuel in the high-temperature. They use a motorized blower to force air across a grid of refrigerant lines.

Water-cooled condensers perform the same function as air-cooled condensers, but require two steps to complete the heat. These chillers come with a water or air condenser, reciprocating compressor-motor assembly, an expansion device, control panel and wiring, a compressor motor-starter, interconnecting refrigerant piping, auxiliaries, and oil and refrigerant charge. We use 3D models, real world photos and worked examples to help you understand how they.

Single Split Systems – are considered as one of the most popular types of commercial HVAC systems because of it quite affordable and appropriate for most small commercial buildings.

This type is beneficial to control the heating and cooling of buildings with small offices, shops, server rooms, and restaurants. Horizontal hierarchy representation of the main types of central HVAC systems. The thermal energy transfer medium can be air or water or both, which represent as all-air systems, air-water systems, all-water systems. Chemical refrigerants are assigned an R number which is determined systematically according to molecular structure.

Common refrigerants are frequently referred to as Freon.
